Welcome to the Well-Prepared Witch! My name is Wellie and I’m so glad you’re here. Let’s start with an introduction. I’m in my late 30s, I have a husband, a dog, two cats, and a passel of chickens. We have a small homestead that is growing as we learn something new each year. I know that life isn’t all sunshine and roses, so I’m also a prepper, which basically just means I try to have extra food and supplies put by for the proverbial rainy day.
I’m a Wiccan, which means I worship both a god and a goddess and the forces of nature. I’ve been High Priestess of a Wiccan coven and of a local Pagan community, though I am currently a solitary practitioner – mostly because Mr. WPW & I moved way out to the boonies and there’s not a lot of us out here! I practice a very small Tradition (or denomination for you non-Wiccans) of Wicca called Hearthkeeping. What that means is my focus is on the home, hearth, family, and my deities. This ties in heavily with my prepping and my homesteading goals, as there’s a lot of overlap in the practices.
My hobbies are reading, knitting and other fiber arts, cooking, canning, and spending way too much time on Twitter! I also have a slightly unhealthy obsession with the smartphone app Zombies, Run! It seduced me into the world of running. This helped me to lose over 100 pounds in the last year and a half. I’ve become much more health conscious and am thrilled at how much more I can accomplish these days.
I love comments and look forward to building a community of like-minded people – Pagan or otherwise – who want to learn about prepping, homesteading, gardening, cooking, chickens, fiber arts, and more.
I may use affiliate links in my blog posts. (Don’t worry – any post in which I do this will have a disclaimer at the top of the post. I’ll never hide it.) All this means is that if you click on a link and buy that item, I may get a commission. You will not be paying anything extra. Clicking on affiliate links just helps me to continue to bring you the content you’re enjoying right now. I do not include affiliate links to anything I don’t use myself and no one can pay me to write a good review for them – I only link to things I like! I’m disclosing this to be in compliance with the FTC’s 16 CFR, Part 255, but also because it’s just the right thing to do!
Thank you for stopping by and I look forward to chatting with you!
